Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 09:40 pmThe mug it mugs. Temps are not scorching but as ever, the night temps are not quite low enough to keep the place bearable. A couple of lows above 20 and heat creeps in, so I turned the central AC on briefly today and it cooled the house nicely. And relieved me greatly because I've been expecting the system to malfunction one of these days, given it's 30 years old. Back to window AC bumped down to 17, because again, 19 wasn't enough to combat the '22 at 6 a.m.' weather. A few more days and then back to more rational weather.
Am looking at earplugs because I'll need them for my hospital and rehab stay. Can't count on being in a private room for the first, and anyway hospitals are noisy by definition. (Granted, my one experience had me in a room off a corridor and the second night I slept beautifully, so maybe exhaustion combats indomnia. But I'm not betting on it.) Noise cancelling earphones cost the earth and seemingly involve smart apps that shrivel my technopeasant soul. The usual silicone jobbies don't work, as I know to my sorrow. Shall keep on reading reviews and see if there's something affordable that also provides white noise and doesn't require an iphone to operate.
