Sunday, August 13th, 2023 05:32 pmShould note these blue and white 'cool, for certain values of cool' days as they happen, since in true August fashion they get interrupted by rain and 'heat, for certain values of hot.' It helps that I go out for dinner on these days (a week ago Saturday, last Tuesday, today) and stay in when rain or storms are predicted (the rest of the long wekend, last Wednesday, yesterday.) The cicadas sing, the cosmos blooms, the Ex opens Friday, it's gloaming at 8: all the seasonal markers say it's turning towards fall. 'Another year's useless energy spent.' No, not really. It's a pleasant life I lead in retirement: no frets, no annoying people, good food and good books. I would like to be able to walk again unaided, and some day I may, though I'm still wondering why I can't yet. Well, back spasms and ankle pain. Which may get better with physio. It's only been a week.
And since it's only been a week I might be premature in rejoicing at what seems to be increased pelvic floor strength. But, if this isn't TMI, I haven't had any mad uhh limps, not dashes, to the bathroom because my bladder threatens to overflow. For which, trust me, I'm grateful. I'm also convinced it was as much psychological and physical, because disaster only threatened if I was already on my way there. But if this quirk stays gone, I shall be very happy.
ETA It's also Perseid weather, only a little late. It was overcast and/ or rainy the last two nights. I've seen Perseids exactly once in my life, when Friends With A Car took me out somewhere with no light pollution. I won't see them tonight either. There are many many advantages to living downtown, like transit, but seeing the night sky is not among them.
