I'm sure I've seen a humourous manga or possibly doujinshi where the horns are a problem. Can't kiss your boyfriend without poking his eye out or something. (Hmm wonder what that was? It feels recent...)

The novels aren't all that much better than the manga, really. They're quite different works, even when the manga's based on the novels; and when they're not- chalk and cheese time. But the novels are *easier.* I cry great bitter tears of frustration when I read the manga because after these *decades* of study I still can't understand what she's saying oh woe is me.
