Another May 12, another Sunday May 12 as in 1991, which I remember well. Today was still pale blue and grey green, lilac time in TO. Lilies of the valley are also coming into bloom in gardens that have them. Wanted to stay in bed this morning because yesterday was a bad knee day and today didn't promise any better, but the pop up recycle bunfest was only on for four hours, so up I got. Trundled down to Central Tech but got sent hither and yon by various volunteers who knew not what the left hand was doing. Is this the recycle? No, it's across the street in the parking lot. Bump bump over the parking lot, elbows complaining all the way. Various booths of various organisations. Is this the recycle? No, it's across the street down a ways. Guys, it was practically at Harbord. But I handed in my two fluorescent tubes and a bag of batteries from the 90s, at a guess, and that was it. Done and dusted.
After which I was damned well going out for brunch and a cocktail. This is a dicey proposition on a Mother's Day Sunday, but if you pick a restaurant with a patio and ask to sit inside, you're off to the races. So I got my Cosmopolitan, but By the Way doesn't offer kufta on their Sunday brunch, which was what I'd wanted. Had a chichi tuna fish sandwich instead, which is doubtless better for me than beef and lamb, but still. They were still slammed and it took a while to get my bill while I hoped I'd be able to stand up from the low chairs. And did, with only mild pangs. The cosmo seems to have worked, because today has been much easier getting up and down off the couch. Where I will probably spend tomorrow which is slated to rain all day. I suppose this excess of precipitation will make up for all the snow that didn't fall this winter, but I do wish it would stop.
