Meme-- Brief interludes

One must write, to write. Hence this meme, ganked from all over.

1. Write down the names of 10 characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteen words or less for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.

1. Hakkai (Saiyuki)
2. Seimei (from the Onmyouji films)
3. Goujun (Saiyuki Gaiden)
4. Hiromasa (from the Onmyouji manga)
5. Keiki (12 Kingdoms)
6. Iason (Ai no Kusabi)
7. Ryuugyoku/ Dragon Gem (Youmi Henjou Yawa)
8. Kanzeon (Gaiden)
9. Sanzou (Saiyuki)
10. Wen Zhong (Woxin Changdan)

1 Angst (7)

'Enough!' She left Heaven; he appeared in Chang'an. Where generals have swords, and use them.

2. AU (1,8)

'Surgery could remove the vestigial genitals--' the doctor began hesitantly.
A chuckle. 'Call those 'vestigial?'

3. Threesome (3,6,9)

'A dragon and an android? No fucking way.' Pause. 'You do it.' Pause. 'I'll watch.'

4. Hurt-comfort (5,10)

'My Ruler has lost her Way,' Keiki mourned.
'I'll just have a word with her...'

5. Crack (1)

'You know, Gojou, maybe your approach is the right one after all. Got a light?'

6. Horror (10)

Devoted counsellors are dangerous. They kill themselves when commanded, but that doesn't shut them up.

7. Baby fic (5,9)

A travelling kirin rescued a baby from a river. It refused to eat, and died.

8. Dark (2,8)

'Bodhisattva-shmodisattva-- I'm the Great Mother Cybele. Your manhood-- now!'
'Alright.' Four tails left. Thanks, Mom.

9. Romance (4,7)

'Another brainless pretty-face--'
Hiromasa began playing his flute.
Dragon-gem observed the lip action.
'You'll do.'

10. Death (2,3)

Desperation-- A trapped spirit--
Seimei chants.
Outrage! Fury!
'KYUU!'
'As above, so below,' Seimei shrugs.

Dammit, now I want to read half of these. Particularly (4) and (6).

(6) sounds only too likely. Wouldn't let a little thing like being dead hinder those wise-couselorly admonitions.

I cannot unsee zombie-Chinese-vampire!Wen Zhong materializing from behing=d pillars in late-night court sessions and hopping as fast as he can to keep up with his lord until he tripped and fell flat on his face, which led to the invention of the raised step in Chinese doorways.

And neither can I, dammit. You *would* bring up the hopping vampires. I was thinking something more refined in the ghost way, of course.

CANNOT. UNSEE. D8

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Err, by the way, *is* that why there are raised steps in Chinese doorways?

[identity profile] feliciter.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I...have no idea why or when they were invented. But this explanation (vampire-zombies foiled by said steps, not Wen Zhong) was given by hilariously terrible Hong Kong movies, and expert sources i.e. my neighbours and primary school classmates, so.

more refined in the ghost way

From Wen Zhong? Really??

Well, not a horrible hopping thing, certainly. A voice that speaks every night within the king's bedcurtains and won't be silenced no matter how many times the king changes rooms; or detailed memorials that appear on the king's desk every morning without the agency of a human hand; or just a grey disapproving figure sitting unmovably across the desk from Gou Jian. I know Wen Zhong is down to earth and has no concern for dignity (or much else) when there's a king to be persuaded, but he is, after all, a scholar and a gentleman. Yes, I know: which does not stop him from being a hopping zombie.

Brilliant! Especially 6. And now I want to read Onmyouji/Youmi crossovers.

Meant to happen, obviously. Hiromasa has so much more going for him than the Dork. And Seimei's too busy canoodling with Murasaki Sue to pay him proper attention.

(4) and (6) are marvellous, unwanted mental images notwithstanding.
